A report from Dianne Lami, one of our dedicated volunteers…

Dear Hope House Friends:

A hearty thank you goes out to all of you for your prayers and financial support of our campers attending Stoney Creek Ranch in July. Ten out of the twelve who were signed up attended the four day camp, along with Philip Lami and myself…and we have all come back changed.

Our four ladies either accepted Christ Jesus before camp or did at the Cross Talk the last night of camp. They were each deeply moved and they do have a good understanding of sin and salvation. Some of our boys were distracted or more intrigued by the drama and the reenactment of the crucifixion and their counselors did not come to either of us to tell us anything about their decisions. I know they were moved by all that they experienced and learned at camp and that they had some understanding of the Gospel before coming to camp.

Both Philip and I, along with the campers, were met with a multitude of pleasant surprises upon entering the camp. When we arrived, about 30 extremely excited bright orange-shirted college age kids grabbed our campers and began jumping up and down, hugging and greeting them and ushering them to one side of the driveway. “GIRLS ON LEFT! BOYS ON THE RIGHT!” Meanwhile, another orange-clad young lady came up to Philip and me and said, “Now you two come with me to your cabins.” What? We’re not with our campers? “Nope. You have your OWN camp!” Yes! That’s right! Those very energetic young people took very good care of our campers the entire 4 days! We were the Group Leaders and we had our own counselors who also took us to the activities that the kids participated in—only on our own schedule.

We experienced the ropes challenge course (way to go, Philip!), the zip line (yours truly zipped the line!), kayaking, lake activities, swimming, and some pool and ping pong, along with Bible Study with the Director, Eric Williams. Meals were excellent—fresh fruit, no desserts, homemade yeast rolls! Country fried chicken! All so good! We were spoiled with pillowtop mattresses on our single bunks!

All in all, our 10 kids truly enjoyed camp and want to return! By the way, you would have been so very proud of each of them! They were model campers! We’ll make some adjustments during the next several months as to fundraising, the parents owning part or all of the $75 cost, etc. More of that information to come.

Check out “Stoney Creek Ranch” on Facebook and look for Session 6. You’ll see a few photos of some of our kids!

Again, thank you all for your support and prayers. Well worth it, friends!

Many blessings to you all,
Dianne Lami, Board Member of Hope House
